I'm a writer and artist, working mainly in comic books, and living in the South East of England (although I'm technically half Scottish and half English).

I'm the managing editor of Orang Utan Comics, group editor of AAM/Markosia, writer of Alpha Gods, Hypergirl and Hero: 9-5, and also do freelance inking and lettering work for the likes of AAM/Markosia, Slave Labour, Top Shelf, Image, Marvel/Panini and I letter the official Doctor Who graphic novels for BBC Books.

…when people get personal regarding writers whose work they don’t like. When people get offensive regarding people purely because they don’t like their work. There is a difference between saying you hate someone’s work and saying that you hate that person. Please think about this. Those are thinking, feeling real people who are simply doing a job in the way that they believe is the best way to do it. Nobody purposefully writes bad comics, and there’s a good chance that there are people who love the very work you hate. Oddly, writing, like all art forms, is fairly subjective.

The only time I might consider this not to apply is if that particular writer’s work is actually deeply offensive (if, for example, it’s extremely racist or homophobic).
