…clearly I was a bit slow on the uptake with the news that Al Ewing is writing Avengers Assemble, as his run starts with #14.
But now I’ve pre-ordered that…and even though I have a general policy of only getting the Avengers in trades, I will keep getting it because I want to support Al’s run (little does he know that he was involved in a significant night in my life…during which I ended up staying up till about 4am with him at Thought Bubble because he’d missed his train…that was an odd night which included, among other things - seriously contemplating suicide, pouring my heart out to Charlie Adlard, and drinking and ordering pizza in the wee small hours with Al, Andie Tong, Ben Templesmith and Esad Ribic…who we were all mildly terrified of because “he killed people in the war in Croatia, you know…”).
(Oh, yeah, there was also that time we stayed up till the wee small hours in Inverness discussing Dr Strange and The Defenders).
(Basically, Al Ewing is awesome and if you have the chance to talk to him in the wee small hours, do so).
So, yeah…you should all pick up Avengers Assemble from #14 onwards.
Not that it’s not good before then…I’m sure it’s great…I’m just getting those issues in trades…I just ordered the first one!
