I'm a writer and artist, working mainly in comic books, and living in the South East of England (although I'm technically half Scottish and half English).

I'm the managing editor of Orang Utan Comics, group editor of AAM/Markosia, writer of Alpha Gods, Hypergirl and Hero: 9-5, and also do freelance inking and lettering work for the likes of AAM/Markosia, Slave Labour, Top Shelf, Image, Marvel/Panini and I letter the official Doctor Who graphic novels for BBC Books.

And after. I think it looks good, but not as distinctive in its liefeldness.

Damn. This is actually not that bad. I mean, it still has the HUGE pecs and the skin tight tshirts, and that first panel’s perspective is a mess; but overall pretty damn good job, Liefeld.

It’s kinda sad to say, but it’s not Liefeld’s improvement.

But his inker’s skills and patience. Rob actually just sketched the thumbs.

But I hope that he will keep on these “collaborations” for the rest of his work. That ink guy seems to be able to turn dog poop into gold completely on his own! (LOLOLOL)

Not believing me? Just check this out.

I stand corrected. This inker must be a wizard or something; this is amazing!

This is how it used to be done, you know? This is how Jack Kirby used to be able to draw eight gajillion comics each month… He did rough layouts and the inker would do finishes. In fact, this bears out the regular comparison between Liefeld and Kirby. They both have a fantastic design sense, a real energy to their work and an eye for dynamic layouts. But they’re also both at their best when teamed with a very talented inker.

Yes, the inker is very, very good…but I bet the combination of him and Liefeld is still better than him on his own. I actually really like this, and I think it’s a shame that Kirkman doesn’t “get it” and wanted Rob at less than his best. If I’d know the art in The Infinite was like this then I would have picked it up.
