Thought Bubble 2012 Report.
More Photos can be found here (I’m sorry they’re so bad. I’m not a very good photographer)I just want to start off by saying that this years thought bubble was probbaly the best one yet. None of it would be have been possible without the wonderful people at Travelling Man, or the guests and exhibitors who came along. … and of course the paying public, even the cosplayers.
I pretty much spent the first day in the Alea casino managing the portfolio reviews with Marvel, Image and Titan. There was so much great work, and there are artists who go back ever year and they keep getting just that little bit closer. It’s great. When Steve Wacker asked me what I did, he demanded to see my work. Let’s just say that wasn’t going to happen. Maybe next year…maybe.
(he also spent the next day calling me a witch because he was actually surprised when I mentioned that the transformers and the avengers had met in the savage lands. He’s in my bad books. He know’s why…)Robert Llewellyn who plays Krtyen in Red Dwarf was also there on the Saturday which was a bit of a bemusing surprise as TB isn’t a tv/film convention. (or at least, it’s a convention that try’s to focus solely on comics ect)I don’t have any pictures from the after party, but let’s just say Kieron Gillen dances like a worm. Also it kind of made my night when Die Antwoord came on.
I finally managed to meet up with Ian, Holly and Kerry. I must aplogise to Ian because it was late in the day and I was a bit spaced out. (Red shirts didn’t leave for another hour after that) But it was cool finally meeting up with them…and being carried off by Holly.
So that’s about it. I’m sort of still exhausted and there was a tonne of emails I had to send last night and sort of passed out. Next year boyfriend and I are hoping to exhibit there while I also volunteer for the weekend. People mention it to me every year about doing one but I sort of prefer helping out. So hopefully next year I’ll do both.
Also limited edition Kate Beaton shirt. Boom.
i have con flu you. you are all filthy.
There’s no need to apologise! It was awesome to meet you! And it’s nice to see that both Orang Utan emplacements snuck into the background of your pics!
