Disastrous interview from Osborne latest sign of a floundering and chaotic Tory campaign - Chris Leslie
Chris Leslie, Labour’s shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, responding to George Osborne’s interview on The Andrew Marr Show, said:
“This disastrous interview from George Osborne is the latest sign of a floundering and chaotic Tory campaign.
“18 times he was asked where the money will come from for his panicky pre-election promises and 18 times he could not explain. Nobody will believe a word of these empty promises when the Tories can’t say how they will be paid for.
“For all George Osborne’s claims about a balanced plan, the truth is he is planning to double the pace of spending cuts next year. And these numbers already include the Office for Budget Responsibility’s forecasts for economic growth under his plans.
“That’s why everyone knows that to make their sums add up the Tories will end up putting our NHS at risk and raising VAT again.”
