Value of the minimum wage has been eroded since the Tory-led Government took office - Ian Murray
Ian Murray MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Trade and Investment, commenting on a report on the National Minimum Wage by the Resolution Foundation published today, said:
“The value of the minimum wage has been eroded since the Tory-led Government took office as prices have risen faster than wages and families have been left £1,600 worse off, so Ministers need to act now.
“Labour is working with business to look at ways of strengthening the minimum wage, ensuring that when sectors can afford to pay more they do. The next Labour government will incentivise firms to pay a living wage through ‘make work pay’ contracts.”
