Depends on what position you’re talking about. If you’re trying to become a writer, you can have all of the degrees you like, but without published work that shows what you can do and that can attract the attention of an editor, you’re dead in the water.
It can’t be stressed enough that nobody in comics cares about your qualifications. Doing a creative writing course or a degree in illustration can be a great idea for learning your craft and getting guidance, but all that really matters is the quality of your work. A degree course might help you improve the quality of that work but you will never, ever get work just off the back of your qualification and anybody looking at your portfolio or reading your work will not take your qualifications into account when deciding whether to hire you or not…the only thing they’ll consider is the quality of your work.
